This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes how we collect, use, and disclose information that you submit to us or that we collect through any Wake Research site (including mobile versions of our website, our social media platforms, and form and links contained on these) (collectively, “Sites”).

By accessing our Sites, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, including the collection, use, and disclosure of your information, as described in this Privacy Policy.

Use of Information Provided by Site Users for Clinical Trial Opportunities

Personal information that is voluntarily entered into this site will only be used by Wake Research.  Our policy is to maintain all personal information as confidential and to use it only for the purpose for which is was submitted.

Wake Research never shares or sells your personally identifiable information with any company or organization. From the time of your entrance into a clinical trial, you will only be identified by initials and a unique number to parties outside of Wake Research that are participating in the conduct of the study.  Your non-identifiable medical information will be given only to the sponsor of the trial and their employees or contractors, and will only be used for study purposes.

By registering on this or any of our Sites, you give us permission to contact you, using the contact information given, regarding enrolling studies that may be of interest to you based on the data that you provided.  We may contact you periodically when we find one or more studies in the future that we feel you may be interested in and may qualify for.  The information submitted by you is safely stored in a secure database that is protected from unauthorized access.

Use of Information Gathered During Use of Our Sites

In addition to the uses of your voluntarily-provided personal information relating to our clinical trials, as explained above, the following are other purposes for which we gather and maintain information about you during your usage of our Sites (each are more fully explained below in this Privacy Policy):

  • To communicate with you about our clinical research opportunities and otherwise follow up on requests or questions that you may submit;
  • To track and analyze use of our Sites, including to prevent, detect, and investigate misuse, fraud, and illegal activities, and to track and evaluate activity on our Sites in order for us to operate, maintain, and enhance our Sites, services, and products;
  • To enhance and improve our Sites’ user experiences, such as by retaining any messages you send us through the Sites and other information (such as browsing history);
  • As necessary to perform all services Wake Research provides in a safe, responsible, and transparent manner to all of its users; and
  • To comply with all applicable laws and regulations which govern human subject clinical research and the other healthcare industry services that we offer.

Analytics Information

Wake Research uses website analytics to provide you the best possible experience with our web platforms, Sites and offerings.  For example, when we send you emails, we may use technologies to determine whether the email has been opened and whether the links contained in it have been clicked on. We may combine this data with other information collected to measure your areas of interest with Wake Research’s offerings, in order to improve our offerings to audiences, or our marketing campaigns, as well as better tailor our interactions with you.

We may also use various website analytics vendors in order to gather information for us to better understand the usage of our Sites, improve the security of our systems, prevent duplicate or fraudulent user responses, improve our ability to direct particular research opportunities to particular audiences, and to inform our general marketing campaigns.  These analytics tools collect information sent by your browser or mobile device, including the pages you visit and other information, for the purpose of assisting us in improving our Sites and offerings.

Cookies

Wake Research may place Internet “cookies” on the computer or other devices used by visitors to our Sites. Cookies are small text files that contain small amounts of information and are downloaded to your device.  Cookies help us and/or the third parties who provide such cookies obtain information about your use of our Sites and improve its operation and for the other purposes mentioned above.  We use two types of cookies: “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies.

Session cookies allow websites to link the actions of a user during a browser session. They may be used for a variety of purposes, such as the gathering the pages visited during a user visit to our Sites, or to facilitate use of our webmail communication system. Session cookies expire after a user’s session, and are not stored long term.

Persistent cookies are stored on a users’ device in between browser sessions which allows the preferences or actions of the user across a site (or in some cases across different websites) to be remembered.

Location Data

Wake Research may utilize features that, when you access the Sites by or through a mobile device or through your browser, accesses, collects, monitors and/or remotely stores “location data,” which may include GPS coordinates (longitude and latitude) or similar information regarding the location of your device.  We may from time to time share such data with third-party analytics vendors, in order to best understand how you browse and use the Sites, as well as provide you personalized information based on that location data. Most mobile devices allow you to change or disable this functionality by changing the device settings.

Web Beacon

A web beacn n is a small image file from a web page that may be used to collect certain information from your device. This information may include the device’s IP address, time of access, browser, and identification of cookies.  Wake Research, or its vendors, may utilize web beacons to track visitor statistics and manage cookies, as explained above.

In some of our newsletters or other email communications, we may track recipient actions.  This may include user’s opening the email or clicking on links that may be included in the email. This is used to monitor user engagement with our communications.
